Instructions to Access the NCWU Online Campus Portal

To log in for the first time:

New students need to activate their student portal accounts with the Activate My New Account link under the Password Management section on this page.

Next you will need to provide three pieces of personal information.

  1. Last Name Example: Smith
  2. Date of Birth MM/DD/YYYY (The slashes are necessary) Example: December 12, 1990 would be 12/12/1990.
  3. Student ID Number This is your six digit student ID number without initials. Example: 123456

After providing the personal information, click the Continue button below Student ID Number.

You will need to set up your password and agree to the Terms and Conditions for Network Use. Be sure your new password conforms to the password rules. Your new password must be at least 8 characters and contain at least three of the following types of characters: numeric digit, lowercase letter, uppercase letter, or special character (!@#$%^&*). Our password policy requires that passwords be reset every 90 days. Be sure not to use part of your name or username when choosing a password. Please click the link Click to view Terms and Conditions and read them prior to checking the box beside I agree to Terms and Conditions for Network Use.

Next you will need to set up your Hint Questions and Answers. These will help you sign in if you forget your password in the future.

Non-Enrolled Students

  • If you are not currently enrolled and need to access MyNCWU, please use the Forgot My Password link to reset your password. If this process does not work, please contact the NCWU Helpdesk via email at helpdesk@ncwu.edu or by phone at 252-984-5000.

Welcome To Student Email Powered by Office 365

Instructions To Access NCWU Student Email

To access your email:

If you would like to use a phone or tablet to access your email, you MUST download the Outlook or Office 365 App from either the Play Store for Android or the App Store for Apple.

  • After activating your student portal account, you can sign in to your student email account. Your student portal password will synchronize with your student email within two minutes. 
    • If you have just logged into my.ncwu.edu and changed your password and set up your hint questions, you will need to wait at least two minutes for that information to sync with Office 365.
  • On the left side of the page, click the “Student Email” link in the “Quick Links” section.  This will take you to your new email page, which is hosted by Microsoft Office 365.
  • You will log in using your full university email address (username@my.ncwu.edu).
    • Your username is the first letter of your first and last names, followed by your student ID number. Example: John Doe with student ID 123456 would have the username JD123456 and the email address JD123456@my.ncwu.edu.
    • Your password will be the same as the one you use to login to my.ncwu.edu
  • When you login for the first time, click on the "Outlook" icon in the App List.
    • Select your preferred Language (English is the default) and Time Zone (NCWU is located in the Eastern Time Zone).
    • Click on save and the next screen should be your student email Inbox.
  • NCWU Information Systems recommends using the Official Microsoft Authenticator App. It is available HERE
  • Follow the appropriate instructions for Android or iPhone to complete the MFA process. 
  • Please browse through the Apps and take full advantage of your Student email account powered by Office 365.
